I don't need much of an excuse to play with Silverlight, so when TeamZoneSports announced a Silverlight Games Competition, I had to indulge.

I came up with Hook Shot, a simple basketball shooting game where you try to make as many hook shots as you can before the timer runs out.

The game uses the Farseer Physics Engine for the basketball physics and Rim/Net collision detection. I also added a high score functionality using a back-end web service.

I need to do some cleanup before thinking about releasing the source code (hey I threw this one together pretty quickly), but in the meantime if you are interested in using the Farseer Physics engine with Silverlight to create some cool applications, check out these prior posts:

Great game! I'm wondering where you got your sound effects? I spent many hours looking for royalty free sound files for my game and never found anything great.

I answered this in the blog post above.

Are you planning to release the code for the game?

Hi ya.
Nice game, have you had time to clean up the source code for a release? :o)

Hi Andy

Are you planning to release the code for this one even if not finished? I would love to learn from it.
thanks

how did you create the game timer? and using physics helper, how did you do the shooting? any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for all the interest in the game! Hook Shot was created some time ago, _before_ the Physics Helper library was created, so it uses "raw" Farseer Physics. I won't be releasing the source code any time soon, but you can find very similar physics examples from the Physics Helper Library here - http://andybeaulieu.com/silverlight/3.0/physicshelper3/index.htm

Oddly enough, I just saw today that somebody has reverse engineered "Hook Shot" using the Physics Helper, and written a tutorial around it!
